Taylor Muzzy

Bio

Taylor is from a working class community and a family of public employees who have walked picket lines and fought for their right to a living wage and a secure retirement. He is committed to supporting every employee in every aspect of their working lives, including the right to equal pay, equal benefits, and equal treatment regardless of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or political affiliation.

He counsels labor unions, public pension funds, and individual employees. He assists unions with contract negotiations, grievance arbitrations, interest arbitration, unfair labor practice proceedings, elections, organizing drives, and representation petitions. He guides public pension funds regarding plan governance “best practices,” open government issues, benefits eligibility and administrative review, and tax qualification issues. He helps individual employees deal with minimum wage and overtime “wage theft,” employment discrimination, sexual harassment, and family and medical leave violations.

Taylor is a member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee and the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys. He is the author of LGBT Rights: Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation in the Workplace, published in the Spring of 2017 in the Illinois Public Employee Relations Report.

Taylor and his two boys spend their free time in the outdoors running, biking, hiking, and skiing, and frequently visit their “Yooper” friends and family in the Northwoods. Taylor also serves on the Local School Council of his boys’ elementary school.
